How Christmas Light Installation Works
Most people have never hired anyone to do this, so here is the whole thing, start to finish. Six steps, one price, and no ladder.
We're Christmas Bros, a father-and-son team based in northern Delaware. The owners do every job personally — the same two people who design your display are the ones who hang it, and the ones who come back if something goes out.
Step 1 — The free design visit
We come to your home and look at it in person. Not a satellite photo, not a form — the actual house, from the street, in the light you'll see it in.
We walk the property with you and talk through what you want lit: rooflines, peaks, gables, columns, walkways, trees, wreaths and garland. We take the measurements we need. We'll point out what's worth lighting that most people don't think of, and we'll be honest about what isn't worth the money.
The visit is free and there's no obligation.
Step 2 — Your quote and your date
You get one all-inclusive price. It covers the lights, the design, the installation, maintenance for the whole season, takedown in January, and storage until next year. Nothing gets added later.
What drives the number is the size of your home, the design, and how much lighting is involved — which is why every quote is custom, and why the design visit comes first. Wisetack financing is available if you'd rather spread it out.
When you approve the quote, a 50% deposit locks your date. The balance isn't due until your lights are up and you're happy with them.
Step 3 — Lights cut to your home
You never buy lights. We provide everything — commercial-grade product, not the strands sold by the box.
Every run is custom-cut for your house. That's the difference you see from the street: lines that follow the roof exactly, even spacing, no bunching at the corners, and no dark gap where a store-bought strand ran out. Bulbs, clips, wiring and hardware are all ours, and all sized for your home.
Step 4 — Installation day
You don't need to be home. Once the design is approved and your date is locked, we handle it.
The owners install the job. We're trained and insured, and we take the ladders and the rooflines so you never have to. Wherever the setup allows, your display goes on a WiFi timer so it comes on and goes off on its own. Most clients simply come home to it lit.
Installs run from October through early December.
Step 5 — Maintained all season
If a strand comes loose in a storm or a section goes dark, we come back and fix it at no extra charge. That's part of the price, not an add-on.
You don't have to diagnose anything. Tell us it looks wrong and we'll come look at it.
Step 6 — January takedown and storage
In January we come back, take everything down carefully, and take it with us. We store it until next season.
Your attic stays empty. Nothing to coil, nothing to label, nothing sitting in the garage rafters in July.
What the one price covers
- Custom in-person design for your home
- Commercial-grade lights, custom-cut to your rooflines, gables and trees
- Professional installation by the owners
- Season-long maintenance — anything out, we come fix it
- January takedown
- Off-season storage
You never buy, untangle, or store lights again.
When to book
Book by early fall. Installs run from October through early December, and early bookings get first pick of dates.
The reason is simple: the owners do every install themselves, so the calendar has a hard limit. Once the good dates are taken, they're taken — waiting doesn't get you a better one.
Prefer to light it once and be done?
If you'd rather not repeat this every year, ask about InvisiLights® — permanent architectural lighting that installs once and is controlled from an app any night of the year, backed by a lifetime workmanship warranty.
